Harald Kloser et Thomas Wander retrouvent le cinéaste allemand Roland Emmerich après "White House Down" (2013), "Anonymous" (2011), "2012" (2009), "10,000 BC" (2008), "The Day After Tomorrow" (2004), et succèdent à David Arnold qui avait signé la musique du premier opus. Leur partition orchestrale renoue avec une tradition ancienne et épique associée au genre de la SF.
