Walt Disney revient à l'animation traditionnelle 2D avec ce film et renoue avec Alan Menken, le compositeur de l'âge d'or des Disney des années 90. Les chansons sont composées et écrites par Randy Newman, qui avait précédemment oeuvré sur les premiers films Pixar.
