Howard Shore, triple oscarisé pour son travail sur la trilogie de Peter Jackson, revient sur une nouvelle adaptation de Tolkien pour composer le thème principal de la série (marquée par un orchestre épique et une douce présence vocale), tandis que Bear McCreary signe une partition complète pour orchestre symphonique, instruments folkloriques et choeurs, ainsi qu'une chanson originale, "This Wandering Day" interprétée par l'actrice Megan Richards (Poppy Proudfellow), avec aussi la voix de Sophia Nomvete (Princess Disa) sur "A Plea to the Rocks".
